The mission of the Committee is to provide support to the State of Israel, the people of Israel and to Jerusalem, its capital.
- Goals
The Committee seeks to develop support and increase informed understanding (in order of priority):
- in the Jewish community of White Plains
- in the Jewish community of Westchester
- in the White Plains non-Jewish community
- Guidelines
- The Committee will attempt to promote the essential unity among the Jewish people.
- The Committee will not take sides among political or other groups within Israel.
- The Committee will attempt to accomplish its goals by cooperating with other organizations that support Israel, where appropriate.
- Steps
The Committee will seek to achieve its goals:
- by programming which achieves a greater understanding of the current situation in Israel and its historical perspective, including a newsletter.
- by providing material support to Israeli citizens, for example by giving tsedakah, by increasing the purchase of Israeli goods and encouraging trips to Israel.
- by providing emotional support and bonding between the local Jewish community and people and institutions in Israel, for example by pairing with other institutions, arranging for email pals between American children and Israeli children and encouraging/arranging visits to Israel.
- by encouraging representatives of other synagogues in Westchester to attend our meetings and share our experiences.
- by programming which shows the media bias in covering Israeli news.
- by programming which develops an understanding of what Arab leaders are saying in Arabic to their local constituency.

White Plains Community
If Westchester is the Golden Apple, then White Plains, a most attractive residential community offering the conveniences of an urban center with the freedom of a suburban lifestyle, is surely its juiciest bite.
A community-oriented city of 50,000 people, located about 25 miles north of New York City, it has preserved quality of life through carefully planned management of the commercial sector, excellent city services,
quality education, convenient transportation, and abundant shopping. The city boasts award-winning parks and recreational programs, a nationally recognized public library, and ample open spaces.
The housing market offers a diverse selection of old and new single-family homes. Apartments range from rentals to affordable cooperatives to luxury condominiums and town houses... all within walking of the Synagogue.
As a result of the strong corporate tax base, White Plains residents pay the lowest real estate taxes in the County.
White Plains is centrally located in the commuter hub, with easy access to New York City, Northern Westchester and New Jersey, Rockland and Fairfield Counties, and Connecticut. An express stop on the Metro North train line,
only 38 minutes from Grand Central Station, the city is accessible to the Bronx River and Hutchinson River Parkways, Routes 287 and 684.
For families interested in Jewish Day School Education, White Plains has a Solomon Schechter School within the city limits, and the Westchester Day School and
Westchester Hebrew High School in nearby Mamaroneck and Westchester/Fairfield Hebrew Academy in Greenwich, CT.
All of the major Jewish organizations are represented with local chapters here. There is a community Mikveh and an Eruv in the city.
